Reasons For Getting A PC Touchpad For Your Desktop
Since early on, the mouse has always been the primary type of navigation in reference to the GUI or graphical user interface of any desktop computer. It’s hard to remember but at one time older systems only had a keyboard. When the mouse started out, it was a great improvement and enabled the user to easily move between windows within the operating system.
Actually the mouse was responsible for bringing consumer interest in the form of business to many computer manufacturers. It can be said that the mouse had an unprecedented influence on the ways in which people could use home computers.
Later when notebook computers really became popular, the mouse really was no longer a viable option for navigation. This was especially true of travelling business users who needed to navigate through pages and windows being worked on without the convenience of having a flat surface such as a desk top. Of course the answer was solved with something that is still included in notebooks down to this day: the touchpad. But as time went on, desktop computers were still stuck with using a mouse.
Since PC owners preferred using a mouse with their desktop computers, the manufacturers never worried much about producing any type of touchpad device. Even during the PC boom days of the 1980s and 1990s, any touchpad or trackpad device was only thought of as a workaround for the mouse and not really a competitor to the mouse. Proof of this is the availability of the mouse offered to owners of notebook computers. Consumers simply didn't want to have to use any touchpad device instead of mouse when they didn't have to.
But today there have been some real advancement in touchpad technology which have actually surpassed the ergonomic styling of computer mice and have also improved device functionality. This has been accomplished through one simple ideology: gestures.
A larger touchpad surface area has been introduced along with gesture technology. This allows the average computer user to enjoy a greater experience of their pc and its technology and software when using their trackpad over the standard computer mouse.
Although there is much praise being heaped upon the new touchpad technology, we really have to remember that computer touchpad devices still suffer from some faults. At times some computer users like graphical designers have a need to use a much more accurate pointing device like the computer mouse. But the vast majority of regular computer users are finding they have a much better desktop experience with a PC touchpad.
If you test one out, you'll find a PC touchpad simply feels more natural and because of this the consumer computer experience is greatly improved. Now with newer operating systems, having a stand-alone touchpad device next to your desktop keyboard can really improve your overall experience in carrying out day-to-day activities on the PC with the ability to use advanced gestures. Just for example, a task such as switching between pages, windows and applications can be accomplished with a simple flick of a few fingers on the touchpad without the need for reaching for the old computer mouse.
